LG Announces 5K Ultra-wide 34-inch 21:9 aspect ratio Nano IPS Monitor

LG is set to show off two new Thunderbolt 3 monitors at this January's Consumer Electronics Show, including the company's first 21:9 "5K UltraWide" display.

The 34WK95U is a 34-inch model with 5,120x 2,160 pixels resolution, high dynamic range 5K images at 60 hertz Nano IPS Technology which is boost the "intensity and purity" of colors., and LG's "Nano IPS" technology, which is said to boost the "intensity and purity" of colors. and Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, which means it can connect to devices like a MacBook Pro with a single cable.

The larger 34-inch monitor has a 21:9 aspect ratio and what LG calls a "5K resolution." But as The Verge's Sam Byford points out, the monitor has the same vertical resolution as LG's 4K monitors at 5120 x 2160, meaning it's closer to a 4K ultrawide monitor. That said, it's still expected to be quite impressive.

LG says the 34-inch monitor will also have excellent color reproduction capabilities, Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, and a near-borderless display.

Pricing information and availability is not yet available. More details are forthcoming, especially closer to CES 2018 in Las Vegas from January 9-12
